Great Day!!
We had a great group of family members come in today to see our readers theater! The kids did an amazing job. They worked so hard to memorize these and read them fluently! I will try to get them posted on here in the next few days!

Thanks for your help!
So lots has happened since I last blogged.
We had conferences, and our class had 100% attendance!! WHOO HOO. Its great to see all the involved parents.
We started spelling and I can tell so many of you are working hard at home to learn those words. **Remember that the words come home on Friday, and the pre-test is on Wednesday and post-test is on Friday. **
We are also working on our sight word Olympic words. Today was our first sitting with the judge and the kids did great. Those kids who didn't pass their list only misses 1 or 2 words, which is great!
Today was also discovery day. I can't tell you how much we appreciate having that time with our grade level teachers to plan. So if you volunteered or sent supplies THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
**Next week be looking for reading homework on Tuesday and Thursday!!***

Our works of Art!
This week we have been very busy working on some super fun projects. We learned yesterday about how Eric Carle creates the artwork for his books (such as "The Very Hungry Caterpillar"). So today we created our own works of art Eric Carle style! They turned out amazing.
We also have been working on the life cycle of a butterfly over the past 2 weeks. So today we created some life cycles to put in the hall.
I have to say we are having a very great time this year!

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
We have been working very hard in reading this year. We have been working on Nursery Rhymes the last 2 weeks. Looking for our popcorn words and the characters, as well as setting and events that are going on in the story.
My personal favorite nursery rhyme is Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. The activities we did in here were just so much fun! We started by reading the story and then putting a bunch of stars in a black night sky. Then we all laid down on the reading run and looked at the constellations in the sky above us (we used our iPad for this!). Then we learned how to connect the stars to make our very own constellations. We have some very creative little minds in this room. Here are just a few samples of our very own constellations!

Today we made a fun graph with our names. We had a LOT of kids with 5 letters in their name. The longest name had 9....not quite as long as Chrysanthemum!!
We added some cute faces to our ship in the hall way. Each kid is peeking out of a porthole. It turned out super cute! Stop by and have a look if you are at school sometime.
